Salad Parties to Celebrate the Spring Harvest

It’s Time for SALAD PARTIES and

Students taste the fruits of their labors at our annual Salad Party on the last day of their @Lunch class: May 26th (for 3rd-5th) and June 9TH (for K-2nd). They also signed the 2023 “TASTED-IT” Banner to commemorate which foods they tried!

Enjoy photos of the older grades Salad Parties:

Along with a nutrition education segment, we serve food that the kids grew at TFES! Students enjoy the Spring crop harvested (leafy greens, like spinach, kale, various lettuces, snow peas and radishes)! During the Salad Party, students can bring out their lunch, like usual, — but on this day, we have a Salad Bar featuring their harvest! We offer some ranch dressing, with the hope of keeping it simple, while encouraging children to try new foods — they grew themselves!

5th grade also received inspirational keychain gifts. We will certainly miss this year’s graduates but wish them well in their next chapter!

Coming up: the younger grades enjoy their Salad Party on Friday, June 9th!

We are looking for Kids and the Young-at-Heart to help us grow food and beautify our school grounds with native plants! We also plan to have fun while learning and loving nature along the way!
