Kick-Off Photos and Thanks!

Last weekend, the TFES Garden Club prepared to spring into action! Thank you to the families and staff who came out to support our Kick-Off!

THANKS A BUNCH TO OUR AMAZING HELPERS:

  • Mr Springer for leading a team in the Food Garden to prep and plant the spring crops.
  • Mrs Blickley for running the Kid’s Fun Activities & Food Table.
  • Jodi Reich for staffing the Registration Table to be sure we have all the needed paperwork and assigned teams to volunteer arrivals.
  • Melissa Begley for helping the students get to know each other better with Fellowship Field Games, and her husband John Coyle for donating supplies.
  • Alex Sbalcio and Michael Nyszczot for leading a team to woodchip the outdoor classroom.
  • Bacher Family for donating mulch.
  • All the families for donating snacks.
  • Camden Children’s Garden, Valerie Frick and Mike Devlin for donating some activity/education supplies and 5 outdoor classroom tables at deep discount.

PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION – It’s a children’s garden, so we try to let the kids experiment with horticulture and artwork around the garden. Things are growing in an ever-changing dynamic that is the beauty of nature. Today, you may see a plot of soil, but underneath, it’s worms doing their work, and baby seeds germinating, preparing to pop into nourishing produce. Our perennial plants are also beginning to awake from their winter rests.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM – The tables that we had been using and the stumps were not the safest for our students, so it had been a long-term goal to replace them. Fortunately, our friends at the Camden Children ‘s Garden offered like-new tables at a deep-discount. And since our TFES PTO is the best, we got them. The tricky part is getting them transported from Camden, NJ. But since TFES parents are the best too, so Bob Ariyamitr offered to make 3 trips to Camden (near his work) to pickup the tables and deliver them with the help of another volunteer dad. We hope to complete the delivery of 5 tables.
