April Learn @Lunch: Photos and Lessons Learned

Over the past few weeks, 133 TFES Students were in the TFES Food Garden, during their grade’s lunch recess time. We appreciate that these kids are giving up their recess to grow food and learn about nature! Here’s what their last class looked like.

After enjoying a picnic lunch at the TFES Food Garden / New Outdoor Classroom. We are so thankful to Mr Springer for helping us teach in Garden Club this school year. Using station rotations, Mr Springer taught our classes about “Helper Bugs”. Did you know that Mr Springer is not just a gym teacher, but he is also a farmer and a bee keeper. The students were excited to see live caterpillars/chrysalises/butterflies, see worms up close, types of dead bees, and trying on a bee-keepers hat! We also got to utilize butterfly and insect educational materials donated by the Camden Children’s Garden.

The next station rotation was with Mrs Tracy Nyszczot, in the Garden! We planted seeds, transplanted plants, laid woodchips, took a tour of the garden and even got to taste some early spring lettuces! We look forward to trying many more of the harvest at your student’s Salad Party.

We are so thankful for our volunteer parents helping to facilitate Learn @Lunch during the school day, for who we could never pull this program off. THANKS A BUNCH!
