Our first Garden Club event of the year was on Saturday, March 22nd. THANKS TO THOSE WHO JOINED US FOR THE FAMILY KICK-OFF. We were thankful to the about 40 volunteers who helped us to wake the garden up for Spring! Students and their families enjoyed getting dirty, doing gardeny crafts and being productive by preparing and planting the spring crops. Cold weather crops are planted twice a year – in early spring and late fall. These edible plants including leafy greens, root vegetables and snow peas — all will be enjoyed for the Salad Party at the end of the school year!

Thank you also to these fabulous farming families who volunteered at this event:
Dorsey
Solano Gavilan
Spangler Tefft
Klein
Richardson
Brown
Kaye
Linberg
Nyszczot
Roman
Torr Lomabardo
Coach Elise Carlin

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
– Mr Springer for giving up his Saturday to help us teach our cheetahs hands-on health with gardening for exercise, nutrition and mental health!
– Svay Family for donation of medical gloves for soil lessons!
– Fern Richardson and Burpee Co. for donating seeds and starting seeds for us!
– The Klein Family, the Kaye Family and the Brown Family for donating event snacks!

Thanks to all those families who have donated on Venmo to @TFES-PTO . We were able to put this funding towards purchasing supplies for amending our food garden’s soil nutrients to teach science, take-home planting activity, and more fun hands-on garden-related activities for our students to learn from!

Still hoping to donate the Spring: We are in need of garden gloves (thick protection for small, medium, large hands), potting soil for vegetables, and large bags of play sand for sensory table.
