On Sept 25th, we had a beautiful day in the garden and outdoor classroom with 2nd, 4th and 5th grades. We are excited to do it again with the remaining grades on Oct 9th. (Photo: 5th grade, Tracy Nyszczot, Katie Young)
During these 2 days of classes, we focused on getting reacquainted with the Garden Club safety rules and tasting some veggies while eating our lunch in the outdoor classroom. Then students enjoyed a scavenger hunt around the grounds and played with the sensory bins. We then focused on planting fall (cold crop) seeds in the Food Garden, as well as, harvesting summer crops. Please check your student’s schoolbag for these foods we sent home (fresh carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, green beans). Sorry 4th grade that we ran out by the time it was their class but at least we had plenty of food for them to taste.
Send us photos of you and your family enjoying your harvested foods for a meal! And/or send us favorite family recipes of how to prepare your veggies, so we can share!
