On October 9th, we had a beautiful day in the garden and outdoor classroom with Kindergarten, first and third grades. (Photo: Kindergarten)
We had such a fun time together in Garden Club! We started by reviewing our Garden Club safety rules and enjoying some fresh veggie tasting while eating lunch in our outdoor classroom. Students then had a great time exploring the grounds during a scavenger hunt and getting creative with the sensory bins!
We also got our hands dirty in the Food Garden, planting seeds for our fall (cold-weather) crops and harvesting some of the last goodies from our summer garden. It was so much fun seeing what we’ve grown! We spent some time cleaning out our sunflower beds, pulling out the older plants, and making room for new growth. Of course, we couldn’t leave the space empty, so we planted more sunflowers to keep our garden looking bright and cheerful! It’s always fun for students to see how the garden changes with the seasons and to have a hand in what grows next.
We love getting to share these experiences with our students and watching their excitement as they explore, learn, and discover all the wonderful things our garden has to offer!
Send us photos of you and your family enjoying your harvested foods for a meal! And/or send us favorite family recipes of how to prepare your veggies, so we can share!
